“Why is the name so long and complicated?” — you’re not alone.
In aquariums, terrariums, and even house plants, you’ll often see names like Anubias barteri or Neocaridina davidi. These are not just scientific jargon — they are actually useful shortcuts that tell you what you’re looking at.
This guide is written for beginners. You don’t need to learn Latin or memorise complex terms. Instead, you’ll learn how to recognise patterns, understand what names are telling you, and use them with more confidence when choosing plants or animals.
