Plant Respiration & Air Balance
Plants inside the terrarium are constantly interacting with the air.
During the day:
- plants absorb carbon dioxide
- release oxygen
At night:
- the process shifts
Because the space is enclosed, gases are continuously reused within the system.
This creates a small but stable environment where plants adapt over time.
There is no need for constant air exchange when the system is balanced.
Humidity and Internal Stability
A closed terrarium naturally maintains high humidity.
This happens because:
- moisture is continuously recycled
- evaporation and condensation remain active
Over time, the internal environment becomes consistent.
Instead of fluctuating rapidly, it stabilizes.

Why It Remains Stable Indoors
The terrarium does not generate its own conditions.
It responds to the surrounding environment.
When placed in a typical indoor setting:
- temperature remains relatively stable
- light is indirect and diffused
- extreme fluctuations are minimized
This allows the internal system to remain consistent over time.
