ISOPOD LAB Fully Fermented Leaves – Premium Isopod Leaf Feed

A specially prepared fully fermented leaf litter designed to provide a natural food source for isopod colonies and support the decomposition process within their habitat.

In nature, isopods feed primarily on fallen leaves and other decaying plant materials. As leaves decompose, fungi and bacteria gradually break down their tougher structures, making the material softer and more accessible to detritivores such as isopods.

ISOPOD LAB Fully Fermented Leaves undergo a controlled decomposition process before packaging, providing pre-decomposed leaf material that is ready for isopods to graze on.

Unlike ordinary dried leaf litter, which takes time to soften and decompose inside the enclosure, fermented leaves are already partially broken down. This makes them a convenient supplementary food source, particularly for colonies that readily consume soft, decomposing organic matter.

The smaller leaf fragments can also be distributed around the habitat, allowing isopods to forage naturally while contributing organic material to the enclosure's decomposer community.

Features

  • Fully fermented leaf litter for isopods

  • Provides a natural plant-based food source

  • Pre-decomposed for easier grazing and consumption

  • Fermentation helps break down tough leaf fibres

  • Encourages natural foraging and feeding behaviour

  • Suitable for juvenile and adult isopods

  • Provides organic material for the habitat's decomposer community

  • Convenient alternative to waiting for dried leaves to decompose

  • Small leaf fragments for easy distribution

  • Complements regular dried leaf litter and decaying wood

Use

Place a small amount of fermented leaves directly onto the substrate, preferably in the drier section of the enclosure.

Allow the isopods to gather and feed naturally. Begin with a small portion and replenish according to the colony's consumption.

Avoid adding excessive quantities, particularly in very moist areas where the material may break down rapidly or encourage unwanted mould growth.

ISOPOD LAB Fully Fermented Leaves can be offered alongside ordinary dried leaf litter, decaying wood, calcium sources and other supplementary foods.

Note: Natural variations in colour, texture and fragment size are expected due to the fermentation process. Introduce gradually and monitor the colony's response. Fermented leaves are a supplementary food source and should not replace the enclosure's regular leaf litter layer or proper habitat maintenance.
