ISOBRO Isopod Habitat DIY Starter Kit

A complete starter kit with the essential materials needed to set up a practical isopod habitat — suitable for beginners or anyone looking for a convenient way to start a new colony.

The kit includes a clear ventilated container together with cycled, pre-moistened substrate and moss, cork bark, fermented leaves and cuttlefish bone. Instead of starting with completely dry materials, the main habitat base is already prepared and ready for assembly.

What's Included

Clear Ventilated Isopod Container
Multiple fine-mesh ventilation ports provide cross-ventilation, while the clear body makes it easy to observe the habitat and monitor moisture conditions.
Cycled & Pre-Moistened Substrate
Prepared substrate provides the main habitat layer for burrowing, moisture retention and biological activity.
Cycled & Pre-Moistened Moss
Helps establish a consistently moist zone within the enclosure and provides additional microhabitat.
Cork Bark
Creates sheltered areas where isopods can hide, congregate and remain protected from excessive drying.
Fermented Leaves
A readily accessible source of decomposing organic material for isopods to graze on while also contributing to the natural leaf-litter environment.
Cuttlefish Bone
Provides a supplementary calcium source that isopods can graze on as required.

Simple DIY Setup

Arrange the supplied substrate in the container, add the moss to one area to establish the moist side, then position the cork bark, fermented leaves and cuttlefish bone.

The aim is not to keep the entire enclosure equally wet. Maintain a moisture gradient, with one area remaining consistently moist while another is allowed to stay comparatively drier. This gives the isopods access to different microclimates within the same habitat.

Once assembled, the habitat can be further supplemented with additional leaf litter and food according to the requirements of the isopod species being kept.

A Practical Starting Point

The ISOBRO Isopod Habitat DIY Starter Kit brings the enclosure, habitat base, shelter, leaf material and calcium source together in one package, reducing the number of separate materials needed when setting up your first colony.

Kit includes: Ventilated Container • Cycled Substrate • Cycled Moss • Cork Bark • Fermented Leaves • Cuttlefish Bone

Isopods are not included. Different isopod species have different moisture, ventilation and dietary requirements. Adjust husbandry accordingly.
