Breeding & Care

  • Egg Laying: They are not hermaphrodites and require both a male and female to breed. Females lay distinct clusters of pink eggs above the waterline.
  • Shell Health: Their color can fade or become brownish if their diet is deficient in calcium. Supplement their diet with calcium-rich foods like cuttlebone, shrimp mineral powder, or blanched spinach.
  • Availability: True magenta mystery snails can sometimes be difficult to find and are often confused with darker purple varieties, but they are available from specialized breeders
