Elevate your cleanup crew with the ultimate mineral-based culture system.
Designed specifically for sensitive species like Red Gummy Springtails and high-production White Springtails, this kit moves away from messy dirt and toward a clean, professional "Hydro-Culture" method. No pests, no smells—just a thriving colony.
What’s Inside:
  • Crystal-Clear Acrylic Gallery: 360° visibility to monitor your colony with ease.
  • Four-Stage Mineral Substrate: A custom blend of Mini LECA, Baked Akadama, and Activated Charcoal Chips for perfect moisture retention.
  • Natural Micro-Habitat: Leaf Litter and a piece of deep-ridge Cork Bark (the ultimate hiding spot for Red Gums).
  • Growth & Nutrition: Cuttlefish Bone for calcium and shell strength.
  • The Pro-Tool Kit: Magnifying glass for observation and a step-by-step Quick Start Manual.
Why it’s better: Our heat-sterilized, mineral-only approach prevents the mold crashes and "sour soil" smells common in DIY setups. Perfect for hobbyists who want a display-ready culture.

PRE-SETUP PRO-TIP: To ensure a pest-free culture, we recommend "flash-baking" your Cork Bark and Leaves at 100°C (212°F) for 20 minutes; this eliminates natural hitchhikers before you introduce your springtails.
⚠️ SAFETY FIRST: Always use a lined baking tray and never leave the oven unattended. Keep materials away from heating elements to prevent scorching. Cool completely to room temperature before setup; adding springtails to hot substrate will kill them instantly.
Step 1: Prep & Layering
  • Sanitize: (Optional) Bake the cork and leaves as per the "Pro-Tip" above and rinse the LECA/Akadama to remove dust.
  • Foundation: Pour the Mini LECA into the acrylic container, followed by the Activated Charcoal and Akadama.
  • Hydrate: Add distilled water until the bottom LECA layer only is submerged. Do not flood the Akadama.
Step 2: Creating the "Home"
  • Hideout: Place the Cork Bark rough-side down. Lean it against the side of the container to create a "viewing window" for your magnifying glass.
  • Foraging: Scatter the Leaf Litter and the Cuttlefish Bone around the bark.
  • Inoculate: Gently pour your Springtails into the container.
Step 3: Feeding & Maintenance
  • Feeding: Add a matchhead-sized pinch of food powder directly under the cork bark every 3–4 days. Wait until the food is gone to add more.
  • Air: Open the lid for 10 seconds twice a week to allow gas exchange.
  • Moisture: Use the misting bottle if the Akadama looks light-colored or dry. It should always look dark and moist.
Step 4: Harvesting
  • For Red Gummies: Lift the cork bark and gently brush them into your terrarium, or move the entire leaf they are sitting on.
  • For White Springtails: Pour a little extra water in to make them float, then pour the "bug-water" into your project.
Pro-Tip: Keep the culture between 22°C–26°C for maximum breeding speed.
