Things to Get Right First
Before choosing a tank or system, take a moment to consider the space around it. Most problems don’t come from the tank — they come from what’s around it.
Maintenance Access
Sunlight Control
Viewing Height
Tank Size & Installation
Chiller Ventilation
Hot air must be exhausted out of the cabinet
Small vents are not sufficient for proper airflow, especially when chillers are enclosed inside carpentry.
Waterline & Framing
What you see should be clean — what you don’t should be hidden
Top framing should conceal the waterline, while the base should hide foam padding, glass thickness, and silicone edges.
Clearance & Access
Leave space for both installation and maintenance
Allow room behind, beside, and above the tank for pipes, equipment, and comfortable access.
Power & Practical Planning
Plan utilities before the cabinet is built
Position power points above and below the tank, and consider heat, humidity, and drainage requirements early.
